Quick-dry and cargo
- Quick-dry shorts are mostly 88% nylon and 12% spandex, with drawstring waists and zippered pockets that keep keys in place near water.
- Cargo shorts use cotton, nylon or polyester, with flap thigh pockets and, on some, knee pleats or a below-knee length.
- Sun cover: one KREATE pair is made from UV-protective fabric.
Labels to know
ENSHADOWER makes most of the shorts here, from beach-ready quick-dry pairs to patchwork utility shorts. KREATE adds a light UV-protective athletic short, and MIICHOUS a matching quick-dry jacket and shorts set.
How to wear them
Pair quick-dry shorts with a technical tee for a hike that ends at a lake, or with a light jacket in town. Longer cargo cuts suit sneakers and socks. For cover from sun, add a jacket from sun-protection jackets; for cooler days, switch to gorpcore pants. Our guide What is gorpcore? covers the wider style.
