Layering for cold days
A light down jacket works alone on a dry day and under a shell in rain; heavier down is for standing still in real cold. Pair insulation with pieces from Shells and see every outer layer in gorpcore jackets. Our guide What is gorpcore? explains how layering shapes the style.
Insulation – FAQ
How warm are these down jackets?
Warmth depends on fill weight and cut. The labels state fill weights from 110g of white duck down in a light jacket to 275g in a heavier one; the product page lists each figure.
Can I wear a down jacket under a shell?
Yes. A lighter down jacket layers under a shell for wind and rain. Check both size charts so the shell has room to go over it.
How do insulated pieces fit?
Fit varies by label and style, and many insulated pieces are cut slightly oversized with room for layering. Check the size chart and measurements on each product page before choosing a size, or email info@aftersoil.com if you are unsure.
How much does shipping cost?

Standard shipping takes 5–10 business days after dispatch and is free on orders over $79 ($9 otherwise); expedited shipping takes 3–5 business days after dispatch. Orders ship from warehouses in the U.S., Europe, Australia, Canada and Asia.
